Home : Products : Outdoor : Active Inf... Active Infrared sensors operate by sending pulsed beams of infrared light between a transmitter and a receiver. An object breaking the beams will be monitored and an alarm created if the duration of the break falls within preset levels.
Active Infrared sensors may utilise single, dual or sixteen beam ‘net’ configurations. With dual beam active infrared sensors both beam paths need to be blocked simultaneously to create alarm activations. Dual beams emit more infrared energy making them more resistant to false activations caused by adverse weather conditions. The Rednet® series uses a unique sixteen beam ‘net’ configuration which provides even greater detection capability and less risk of false or missed alarms.
